Dear Senna: British Grand Prix 2016

Dear Ayrton,

So, today (10th July 2016) was the British Grand Prix. It was rather exciting, really. I thought I’d write to you and let you know what’s going on back on Earth, and in the Formula One world (we’re still not over your death). It chucked it down with rain, it is England after all, and that caused chaos. Mercedes got 1 and 2 (Keke Rosberg’s boy Nico came 2nd) with 18 year old Max Verstappen in 3rd – 18! Nico ended up with a 10 second penalty for illegal radio messages so Verstappen was up to 2nd. What a day! I’m sure you were watching from wherever you are, with James and Jules and Francois and all the others that we lost over the years. They hold it at Silverstone these days, but I’d like to see it back at Brands every once in a while. This time 30 years ago, you unfortunately didn’t finish. Never mind, that’s in the past now.

We miss you, Ayrton. We really, really miss you. Hope you’re having a great time wherever you are.

From Hannah, a big fan of yours.
